Pit Bulls: Ban the Breed or Punish the Deed?
A lot of coverage has been placed on pit bull attacks over the years. Just today, there was a news story on MSNBC covering this issue.
What side are you on?
Now what if your child had just been attacked, does that change your answer?

Dogs should be judged as individuals. If a dog acts out, it is the fault of the owner in almost all cases. Pit bulls, by nature, adore humans, and a dog who attacks a human is not typical of any breed. Breed Specific Legislation puts responsible dog owners under undue stress, and causes harm for innocent dogs. Pit bulls make wonderful pets, and misinformation about the breed (actually, “pit bull” is not a breed, but a category for American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, and Staffordshire Bull Terriers) is unfair and unsafe. In the question of “what side are you on?” we should get the sides straight: will we choose to side with a group of dogs that is the most victimized of all breeds, or side with the criminals who get those dogs for the wrong reasons, abuse them, and perpetuate stereotypes? I side with the pit bulls.
